Writing Helps Me Remember Them

Last week we said goodbye to Matt’s Grandpa Tuttle. A year ago this week we said goodbye to two other grandparents. To say it has been a hard season of loss is an understatement.

I have been blessed by many women in my childhood and adult life. Grandparents, parents, aunts, and teachers have always encouraged me to write and speak about the things that matter to me.

It’s not lost on me that it was a blessing to have so many positive role models. It’s not lost on me that it is my obligation to do the same for my children and other young people. My Grandma Mary Bell used to encourage reading and writing and speaking, because if one could do all three..they could do almost anything.

I couple those things with my love for Nebraska and Ag.

I owe it to them. I owe it to me. I owe it to our future to tell our story. As our country grows and changes and moves further from its Agrarian roots, we all must bind together to do this. Our future depends on it.
